Birthday Party in Spain

Birthday cake and Cappuccino

“Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday to you…” Our French camping neighbours are singing for me at midnight, from inside their tent. It`s October 23. I guess my birthday has started.
Next morning I find `birthday pain au chocolat` in the hammock, in front of our tent. It` s a beautiful day once again and we head out to town. The idea is to get a book, in a language that I can read. In Spain, this is like finding a needle in a haystack . The choice is incredibly limited and I end up with some murder story. Of course we find good cappuccino and pie, and we go out for dinner. While enjoying live guitar playing, we eat tapas and drink red wine.

Today we were supposed to continue biking. However, yesterday after dinner we discovered a bike store in town, which is closed today because of a local Holiday: St. Rafael. We`ll stay in Cordoba one more day in order to go to this bike shop and to avoid the heaviest rain. Yes, today is a rainy day and this had turned our comfortable camground into a big mud-pit. It takes us some time to get used to this again. Sand all over the tent, thinking about how to keep our shoes dry and ourselves warm. Best solution: go into a bar and stay there all day.

I hope it’s not too late to add my birthday wishes to the party!! We thought about you, and didn’t know how to reach you. I hope a HUG (or three or four) will fit in your bags? or on your shoulders!
